Opportunity | Duty Description
The goal of this position is to ensure clinical team readiness for all travel, to support the clinical teams with logistics needs that will result in smooth and efficient VMMC service delivery.
Opportunity | Duty Requirement(s)
- Transport clinical teams to enable them to perform their official duties within the assigned region and elsewhere, as requested.
- Transporting guests, consultants, and clients to and from related activities.
- Deliver official documents to government offices and businesses as required.
- Ensure all required deliveries and collections are made on behalf of the clinical team in a timely manner.
- Receive products and coordinate delivery of all VMMC kits and other commodities.
- Oversee inventory of goods (camping equipment), kits, and all medical consumables and vehicles.
- Ensure fuel receipts are properly completed and submitted to the regional VMMC Technical Advisor on time.
- Ensure that the vehicle is in a clean state and in good running condition on an ongoing basis.
- Liaise with the VMMC Technical Advisor to ensure that all repairs, maintenance checks, and services are conducted timeously by the designated service providers and registered vehicle agents.
- Ensure vehicles are suitably prepared and equipped for long-distance trips, including visits to rural areas, which may require travelling on untarred roads (e.g., extra petrol cans, spare tyres, etc.), and drive as necessary.
- Participate in trip planning as required, specifically by ensuring compliance with the outreach checklist.
- Maintain and update an accurate logbook to monitor and reflect all trips completed.
- Take full responsibility for petrol cards and ensure to replace them when the expiration date is due.
- Ensure prior written consent is obtained for special trips.
- Keep an accurate record of weekly fuel consumption and submit fuel receipts to the Finance Department on a weekly basis.
- Ensure that all passengers fasten their seat belts, and that appropriate attention is always paid to passenger safety throughout all trips conducted, (e.g., lock doors when driving).
- Always abide by local traffic laws such as speed limits.
- Assist with client registration and demand creation (client mobilisation).
- Perform any other related duties assigned to him/her by the supervisor.
Added Advantages | Special Requirement(s)
- A grade 10 certificate or equivalent qualification for a recognised institution.
- Valid code 8 driver's license with Public Authority to drive passengers in Namibia.
- At least five (5) years of driving experience, coupled with at least three (3) years of professional driving-related work experience.
- Language proficiency: written and spoken English, and the ability to speak at least one other local Namibian language.
- General knowledge of automotive maintenance and vehicle operations is essential.
- Proven demonstration of high levels of integrity.
- Prior experience with VMMC.
- Prior experience as a driver in an NGO, community clinic, or hospital setting.
- Good general knowledge of HIV/AIDS.
- Excellent knowledge of the designated geographic area.
- Must be able to work well in a team.
- Should not have been previously convicted for traffic offences.
