Opportunity | Duty Description

• Patrols the premises to prevent theft, trespassing and other security risks by identifying unlocked doors, open windows, lights left on, running water, fire, unlocked vehicles, vehicles’ lights left on and suspicious persons and objects.
• Searching of vehicles and bags.
• Preventing security risk by guarding and patrols the building and around the premises.
• Guards the main gates  and patrols as directed around dedicated NamPower premises  to prevent burglary, theft, trespassing and enter security risks by identifying unlocked doors, open windows, lights left on, running water, fire, unlocked vehicles, vehicles lights left on and suspicious person and objects
• Hoists and lowers the flags at 07h00 and 16h30, respectively.
• Record in the Occurrence book (OB) all incidents, identified security risks and report to his/her supervisor.
• Conducts spot checks on persons and vehicles in order to prevent theft/pilferage.
• Assists the security officials in conducting searches of persons and vehicles as directed.
• Ensures that Vehicle Trip Registers, Temporary Permits (VS/1) and Store Permits (VS/6) are correctly completed and that a copy of the letter is retained by security section.
• To assist the Security Official in the reception area with the receiving of visitors who are visiting the premises.
• Guards the gates in order to control the movement of persons, vehicles and goods into or out of the premises.
• Ensures timely response to alarms.
• Responsible for any general and additional tasks related to and generally flowing from the abovementioned tasks and area of responsibility as and when the need may arise.

 

Opportunity | Duty Requirement(s)

• Grade 12 with 20 points and an "E" in English (NQF level 4)
• At least two (2) years experience in the police, military, security or related fields

• Ability to handle fire arms & communication equipments
• Good knowledge of techniques in electronic surveillance
• Good knowledge of relevant laws of the country
• Knowledge of criminal law on arrests, searches, use of force
